Informal Wedding Dresses

“Informal Wedding Dresses”

Informal Wedding Dresses.  If you are getting married, you are probably already anticipating that big day when you and your fiancé become husband and wife. You will start your journey of marriage with your new spouse.

In today’s world, people are spending tens of thousands of dollars, even hundreds of thousands of dollars, on their wedding day. Instead of focusing on the marriage, couples are focusing on the wedding and finding themselves deep in debt before the marriage even begins.

You may have decided to go against the grain. You realize that a wedding is important to declare your intentions to God and your family and friends, but you do not want to go into extreme debt to do so. Instead, you have decided to have an informal wedding with an informal wedding dress and an informal atmosphere.

Finding The Informal Wedding Dress

Finding an informal wedding dress can be difficult in today’s society. Wedding dresses are ornate, elegant, formal, and just over the top. Few people want to buy an informal wedding dress, so often times there are only a few choices for you to choose from if you do decide to have an informal wedding dress. However, if you think outside of the box you may easily be able to find an informal wedding dress.

Prom season, which is right around spring time, or homecoming season, which is in the fall, are the perfect time for you to find an informal wedding dress for a low price. Go to any major department store, especially the stores in your local mall, and you will find a sea of dresses. While these dresses are low priced, some of them might be more formal than you are looking for. However, despite the dozens of formal prom and homecoming dresses, there are still many informal dresses for you to wear at your wedding. It will be easier for you if you do not want to wear white to find an informal wedding dress in a department store, but there are still often times several white dresses to choose from.

Planning An Informal Wedding

An informal wedding is easy to plan. You can have it in your backyard, or in the yard of any friend. You could even have it at a local beach or town park. Just because you are having an informal wedding doesn’t mean that you will not receive a single wedding gift, so do not worry about that! Enlist family and friends to bring food and drink, and voila, you have an informal wedding with an informal wedding dress to boot!

Selecting the Perfect Wedding Gown

Wedding Gowns:  Selecting That Perfect Dress

After the groom and the groomsmen have taken their place near the altar the other cast of characters enter the room.  There is the  flower girl, ringbearer, bridesmaids, and maid of honor.  Once everyone has taken their place, the strains of the “Wedding March” begin to play.  This ultimate moment is the entrance of the bride who is about to exchange vows with her beloved.  She is radiant and all eyes are affixed on her.

However, this moment doesn’t just happen.  There are a long hours of planning, coordination, compiling of the guest list and other items to fret over to ensure that everything is perfect.  One additional critical item is the selection of the perfect wedding gown.

When considering what wedding gown to select it is important to take into account a number of considerations.  Those considerations include research and shopping for that perfect wedding gown.

Research

One of the cardinal methods in the long process of selecting a wedding gown is to begin the selection process through research.  By researching a number of books, periodicals and wedding shops the anxiety of selecting a wedding gown can be reduced.

Therefore, it is important to invest in several magazines that feature weddings and attire for brides.  This process should begin early and it is strongly suggested that the process begin anywhere from nine months to one year prior to the wedding day.

Another advantage to organizing the selection process  for that perfect wedding gown is to make the choice a pleasant memory.  Being unorganized and waiting to the last minute will raise the stress level of all those involved and interested.

In addition, the research conducted should give you a general idea of the price range of the wedding gown.  Armed with this figure in mind it will make the actual selection of the wedding gown easier on the nerves and the pocketbook.

Shopping For That Perfect Wedding Gown

When the research has been conducted it is now time to visit the bridal shops.  This can be accomplished by calling various stores and making appointments.  It is important to allow yourself one hour per each shop to try on the different wedding gowns that are available.

Also, there is comfort in numbers.  Therefore, invite your bridesmaids to be part of the process.   In fact encourage their participation by asking for their honest opinions on the style of the wedding gown, how it looks and flows.  Remember, however, this is your day and the gown that is selected should be a reflection of what you wish to convey during your ceremony.

In addition, remember alterations may be needed.  Therefore it is important to give yourself an adequate amount of time for those alterations to be accomplished.  A good rule of thumb is to allow for at least four to six months before the wedding date.

Vintage Wedding Dresses

“Vintage Wedding Dresses”

So you’re engaged to be married! There are so many plans to make, details to think of and the excitement of your coming marriage, it’s enough to make your head spin! One essential ingredient of your wedding plans is your wedding dress. After all, it’s likely there will be a lot of photos taken of you and your husband, both at the wedding and at your reception party. You’ll of course want to look your most beautiful on this most beautiful day of your life.

Maybe you didn’t see your beloved’s proposal coming and are still in a state of shock. Nonetheless, you’ll need to decide on the style of wedding dress you want and finally make a decision on “the” dress. With the bounty of wedding dresses to choose from, this can be an agonizing choice!

If you’re the romantic type and adventurous of spirit, you should take a look at vintage wedding dresses. These days, the term “vintage” is applied to every decade more than thirty years old.

Look through the decades of fashion styles and see which you find most appealing. Each period has its own charm and grace, and vintage wedding dresses are available for each period of fashion. For example, the late 1930’s and 1940’s were days of elegance, with superior lines and embellishments that are still classics today. Bead work, satins, embroideries and elegance describe this period perfectly.

Grace Kelly embodied the chic of the 1950’s, while Jacqueline Kennedy made fashion news with her unique Chanel-inspired style. Wedding dresses were part of each fashion period, and there is a vintage wedding dress to be found in each.

You can find vintage wedding dresses of the Victorian era in your local antique shop, as well as in online specialty shops. These vintage wedding dresses are typically in pristine condition, having only been worn once! Antique shops, both on and offline, are quite particular about their offerings, selling perfectly beautiful dresses in top condition.

Some of the oldest vintage wedding dresses may have faded from a pure white to a creamy color. If you find your dream vintage wedding dress has lost it’s original brightness, ask the seller if the dress can be whitened without damaging the fabric. As a backup measure, consult with your dry cleaner before finalizing your purchase. Be prepared to give him the scoop on the fabric of the dress and embellishments.

A vintage wedding dress can be the most romantic of all wedding dress choices. Choose the fashion period you find most attractive, and take a look at what you’ll find. You’ll be the most beautiful bride on this, your most beautiful day.

Finding the Perfect 2008 Wedding Dress

Helping a Bride Choose Her “2008 Wedding Dress”

A woman’s wedding day is one of the most important days of her life. A woman will often look to a trusted friend or family member for help with all of her wedding decisions. The person (or people) chosen for this honor should be honest, listen to the bride-to-be, and remember that this is the most important day of her life thus far.

Deciding on a Style

A wedding dress is a big decision; the friend of choice should help the bride-to-be select a dress by starting with the general shape of the dress. It is a good idea to start with some of the basic styles. She should try a ball gown, a princess style, an empire waist, and perhaps a ballerina or cocktail type dress.

Trying one of each basic dress type can help the friend tell the bride which wedding dress best suits her shape. Once the best shape has been selected she can choose the other important features such as material, neck line, embellishments, and color.

The size of a woman’s bust and the amount of attention she wants drawn to that area will dictate which type of neckline she should choose for her wedding dress. A square neck line will often flatter a woman with a smaller form and a smaller bust. A V-neck will suit a medium to large sized chest and a halter or high neck can minimize a very large bust.

Brides Look beyond White

Helping the bride-to-be select the best colored wedding dress for her coloring can be another challenge. Beyond finding the dress of the right color, deciding which color she would like to have, as the traditional white dresses are becoming less popular.

wedding-dress2.jpg

Very fair women (which are not planning on tanning) would often feel their skin tone washed out in a white wedding dress. Ivory, cream, or a candle light color will suit nearly any skin tone nicely, as the wedding dress will appear bright against any complexion with out over powering the very dark or very fair skinned.

Embellishment is another factor to consider; pearls and crystals are very popular adornments to wedding gowns, some women look good with them and others do not. When helping the bride-to-be to make her decision be honest about how flattering or unflattering the embellishments look on her form.

Comfort and Confidence

The wedding can seem intimidating for the bride-to-be although she has been waiting for her wedding day since she was five years old. The trusted friend should help the bride-to-be choose a wedding dress that makes her look and feel beautiful.

Feeling comfortable and confident on the big day will make all the research well worth it. The wedding dress will only be worn once, but it is a day that she will hold in her memory the rest of her life.
