Wedding Toasts

Wedding Toasts are an Important Part of Every Wedding

Every wedding usually has several wedding toasts. These wedding toasts are ways for people to express their thoughts and share their love for the bride and groom. Some of these wedding toasts will be planned while others will be spontaneous. The bride and groom should make sure that there is a special time set aside during the reception for the wedding toasts to be given.

Best Man and Maid of Honor

Any guest at the wedding is free to toast the bride and groom, however, there are often specific people who will give the wedding toasts and these people are well prepared. It is customary for the Best Man to toast to the bride and groom first. Most people expect for him to give one of the wedding toasts and once he is done, others may give toasts as well.

It is also becoming quite common for the Maid of Honor to give one of the wedding toasts. While the Best Man is often toasting to the groom and his new bride, the Maid of Honor shared her well wishes to the bride and her new husband. This ensures that the two people who know the bride and groom best will share their thoughts and memories with the wedding guests.

Parents

The parents of the bride and groom may also choose to partake in the wedding toasts. Often, the father of the bride will say something and it is customary for the father of the groom to make a toast to welcome the bride to the family. There is no rule or etiquette stating that the parents should make a toast, but many parents are overwhelmed with love and pride on the wedding day of his or her child that they are moved to make a toast.

Bride and Groom

The bride and groom may also give weddings toast. They will toast to their new spouse and once again declare their love. This is the time to share memories and stories that may not have been expressed during the vows. These wedding toasts will also be as much for the guests as for the bride and groom. The bride and groom should thank all of their guests for joining them on their special day and make a toast to all of them.

Wedding toasts
are always going to be an important part of any wedding. The Best Man, Maid of Honor, parents of the bride and groom, as well as the bride and groom may give one of these wedding toasts. Regardless of who gives the toast, it is about celebrating the love and commitment that the bride and groom have made to each other and that’s what makes it so beautiful.

Wedding Supplies

Wedding Supplies

Weddings can cost thousands of dollars and so for people with limited budgets the thoughts of an expensive wedding can become very burdensome.  But, there are ways to make weddings affordable while maintaining beauty and style.  One way to decrease the cost of a wedding is to find affordable wedding supplies.  One great place to find affordable wedding supplies is on the internet.  There are many sites which offer discounted wedding supplies.  Everything is available on these sites from cake toppers to wedding favors.

These internet sites are great because they usually have many choices available in all the wedding categories.  This makes it easy to come up with some unique ideas for wedding supplies.  For example, wedding cake toppers come with all different types of styles.  Instead of just having the basic bride and groom figure on the cake, one might choose a comical bride and groom scene, a beach bride and groom, or even interchangeable bride and grooms to allow for ethnic diversity.  There are also wedding cake toppers which have initials, hearts, or Asian themes.

Precautions

Internet wedding supply sites probably offer the most choice in all different categories and may also be able to offer the best prices because they deal with quantity.  Some problems with the sites are the inability to see the products before purchasing and hidden shipping costs.  Sometimes what looks good on the computer screen may be totally unacceptable in reality.

It is important for the purchaser to allow enough time for the wedding supplies to be exchanged or replaced if they are purchased on the internet.  It is important, also, to always take the shipping costs into consideration when pricing out all the items.

Affordable Wedding Supply Stores

There are many stores which have items suitable for wedding supplies.  Craft stores usually have wedding sections were ideas are available and the necessary supplies to put together the ideas.  Making wedding favors is one thing that can be done easily using supplies purchased at a craft store.  Simple fabric netting can be cut into small pieces, filled with mints or candy, and then have a ribbon tied around it. This is also a good way to hand out rice or bird seed for the wedding couples send off.  This is a very simple and inexpensive idea and is just one of many available at a craft store.

Party supply stores are now in almost every city.  These stores have endless supplies available for not only weddings but all types of celebrations.  To find affordable wedding supplies at these stores a bride and groom can watch for sales and promotional items.  These stores also offer bulk supplies which are discounted because of the quantity.  Finding the best wedding supplies at the best price is just a matter of effort and a little time.  With careful planning the wedding does not have to cost thousands of dollars.

Valentines Day Gifts

Valentine’s Day - Sexy Gifts for Your Valentine

The inventiveness of those who make sexy gifts knows no bounds. Whether your relationship is a day old or a decade old, there’s something to spice up February 14th for you.

Chocolates
may not technically be an aphrodisiac. But they can certainly get her heart racing. Add in some flowers and you’re already part way down the road to romance. Now you can bring out the heavy hardware.

That ‘heavy hardware’ can actually be something as light as a feather: sexy lingerie. It’s what everyone thinks of first when they think ’sexy gift’, right? Not a bad idea, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

Guys buying lingerie for a woman should consider whether the gift is a hint or a present. Nothing wrong with both, provided your relationship has reached or passed that stage. But no one likes to feel pressured to move to the next step. You may find them just moving on instead.

Make sure you get the right size and style. Some women don’t feel comfortable in a form-fitting lace body stocking. They like to hide those extra pounds or retain a bit of mystery before any unveiling. Look around at what she already owns and wears. Ask her friends what she might like.

Similar advice is valid for women buying for men. Not every guy thinks heart-covered boxer shorts is a motivator for lovemaking. It can be seen as nothing but a way to make him look ridiculous. Of course, your guy could never look bad in anything, or so you should assure him.

Move beyond clothing, though.

Massage oil makes a good sexy gift for Valentine’s Day. Everyone likes a massage. It can be just a great experience or the perfect prelude to slippery sex. But don’t just give body oil. Promise to use it. Then follow through.

Silk sheets don’t go well with body oils. But they can provide a similar experience. When you crawl into bed with these on the mattress, you’ll know what sensual is all about. Just don’t get so distracted by the gift that you forget about your partner!

Maybe your partner is a little intellectual, maybe not. Either way, romance can always benefit from a little fantasy or imagery. A ‘how to’ book might be a little clinical, or even be seen as insulting. But a custom-written book of erotic stories that feature the two of you as the main characters could be a bestseller in your home.

Everyone likes to play games. In love, those games can turn sexy in the right setting. You can get a pre-made board game that builds anticipation and makes you laugh, both good precursors to romance. Or, you can have a game custom made that shows the progress of your relationship. In the end, you discover you were made for each other. Roll the dice and get lucky.

Get sexy Valentine’s Day gifts for your partner or playmate. Who knows? You may just find out what love has to do with it.

Romantic Getaways for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day - Romantic Getaways for Valentine’s Day

Whether your relationship is a day old or a decade old, getting away for Valentine’s Day might be just the ticket. Luckily, there are dozens of choices no matter where you live.

In the colder climates, nothing is more romantic than a snow bound lodge with a roaring fire. Put your feet up, clink two glasses of wine together and toast your good fortune at finding one another.

Vermont and other popular ski areas provide ample space to accommodate couples for Valentine’s Day. Cabins range from isolated, one-room buildings to a cozy 10 ft x 12 ft room in a huge, multi-guest lodge. Some packages include skiing. Some are designed specifically for those who just want to laze about and gaze into one another’s eyes.

Warmer climes may not offer the traditional winter look, but they can be just as romantic. After all, February 14th is the middle of summer below the equator. Sign up for a cruise to the Bahamas and make Valentine’s Day something to remember forever.

On the ship, couples will get special treatment. Rooms can be made up in style to celebrate this unique holiday. Romantic candlelight dinners for two are available. Then you can both hit the tables for a little gambling. After all, you rolled the dice in love and won, didn’t you?

Even just staying near home can provide lots of chances for a romantic rendez-vous. Pick out a fine hotel and book a room for Valentine’s Day. Be prepared to find everything ready for you and your special someone.

Styles range from the huge, heart-shaped hot tub in the room made up like a harem to an elegant 4-star experience. Have dinner served in the room and eliminate all distractions. Or, get dressed in your best and make your way to the restaurant downstairs. You’ll be so focused on one another that no distractions exist for you.

Treat one another and go for the combination Hotel/Spa experience. Even one day in these luxury resorts can make February 14th the most memorable holiday ever. Nothing encourages romance like being pampered to in every way.

You can have a relaxing swim in the morning, then an outstanding brunch. You can’t call it breakfast, after all, because you got to sleep in very late. You can lounge around the pool or go to the gym for a vigorous run to get your heart pumping. Naturally, just being near your Valentine should be enough to do that. Don’t forget to say so.

In the afternoon, you can enjoy one of the spa’s stellar massages, followed by a skin treatment. That will put you in the perfect mood to dig into one of their superb meals. Spas are excellent at combining good nutrition with great taste, so you won’t be disappointed.

The key to a successful Romantic Getaway for Valentine’s Day is to truly get away. Leave the day-to-day worries at home. Focus on that special someone you chose to spend this day with. Treat them like the most important customer in your life. You’re sure to get a big tip.

Selecting the Perfect Wedding Gown

Wedding Gowns:  Selecting That Perfect Dress

After the groom and the groomsmen have taken their place near the altar the other cast of characters enter the room.  There is the  flower girl, ringbearer, bridesmaids, and maid of honor.  Once everyone has taken their place, the strains of the “Wedding March” begin to play.  This ultimate moment is the entrance of the bride who is about to exchange vows with her beloved.  She is radiant and all eyes are affixed on her.

However, this moment doesn’t just happen.  There are a long hours of planning, coordination, compiling of the guest list and other items to fret over to ensure that everything is perfect.  One additional critical item is the selection of the perfect wedding gown.

wedding-dress.jpg

When considering what wedding gown to select it is important to take into account a number of considerations.  Those considerations include research and shopping for that perfect wedding gown.

Research

One of the cardinal methods in the long process of selecting a wedding gown is to begin the selection process through research.  By researching a number of books, periodicals and wedding shops the anxiety of selecting a wedding gown can be reduced.

Therefore, it is important to invest in several magazines that feature weddings and attire for brides.  This process should begin early and it is strongly suggested that the process begin anywhere from nine months to one year prior to the wedding day.

Another advantage to organizing the selection process  for that perfect wedding gown is to make the choice a pleasant memory.  Being unorganized and waiting to the last minute will raise the stress level of all those involved and interested.

In addition, the research conducted should give you a general idea of the price range of the wedding gown.  Armed with this figure in mind it will make the actual selection of the wedding gown easier on the nerves and the pocketbook.

Shopping For That Perfect Wedding Gown

When the research has been conducted it is now time to visit the bridal shops.  This can be accomplished by calling various stores and making appointments.  It is important to allow yourself one hour per each shop to try on the different wedding gowns that are available.

Also, there is comfort in numbers.  Therefore, invite your bridesmaids to be part of the process.   In fact encourage their participation by asking for their honest opinions on the style of the wedding gown, how it looks and flows.  Remember, however, this is your day and the gown that is selected should be a reflection of what you wish to convey during your ceremony.

In addition, remember alterations may be needed.  Therefore it is important to give yourself an adequate amount of time for those alterations to be accomplished.  A good rule of thumb is to allow for at least four to six months before the wedding date.

Gift Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Gift Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day - Gift Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Oh, boy, what do you give for Valentine’s Day? It seems like everything has been done and you want to think of something special. Well, you can go traditional and give the gift a twist to make it unique. Or, you can break away from the pack and give that gift that no one has ever thought of before.

Flowers
are always appreciated, by either woman or man. You can never go wrong with these traditional and lovely plants. But speaking of plants, how about something more permanent? How about a bonsai tree whose branches are shaped like your loved one’s name? Ok, that might take a little longer to plan than you have. But you could get one with a tiny rock garden that spells out “I Love You”.

Candy is traditional, too. But a box of chocolates is a box of chocolates… unless it’s from Russia. Or Tibet. Or a little known town in the southwest corner of Missouri called Donchawannit. The idea is to make the gift something the same as the usual that is also a little bit different.

Maybe he or she is the outdoors type. Sure a personalized set of golf clubs is a great idea. But you might be saving that for Christmas. So, how about a toboggan ride down some snow-covered slopes along a path that spells out his or her name? Then you can take a photo at the end and put it in that special frame you’ve been saving.

Hmmm… Maybe that’s a little hard to arrange. So, make it easy on yourself. Go with that favorite wine. But, wait. Don’t just pick up a bottle at the local store. A gift membership from an online wine club is the gift that keeps on giving all year ’round. And, rather than one wine, you get a dozen or more. Now, that says “I Love You”. Or, that you’re with an alcoholic. It’s hard to be sure.

No one would turn down a new car. But that could stretch the budget just a little. So, how about a new toy car? It could be in the form of a complex model the two of you could build. With a hundred parts or more you could be done just in time for next year’s Valentine’s Day. Or, in the same vein, you could go for a miniature ship that says “Ahoy, let’s sail off together into the sunset”.

More Gift Ideas for Valentine’s Day…..
One of you just has a heart set on jewelry. Not a bad idea. But jazz it up. Make it unique. Sure, diamond earrings are always a hit. But instead you could go for a kanji ankle bracelet made with gold and amethyst. The Japanese characters can be selected to say “Long Joy Together” while no one has to translate what the jewels mean.

Be creative. Combine the old with the new. Take an idea and turn it upside down or inside out. After all the one you’re with often does that to you, no?

Wedding Cookies

Wedding Cookies

When planning for your wedding day, the dress, time, place and husband are usually the first and most important things to think about. For my friend’s special day the wedding cookies overrode almost everything else for me because I was elected to make some of these treats for the reception.

I am known for making very decorative pastries as well as meals that are as pleasing to the eye as they are the palate. I suppose my friend felt that I would make some interesting wedding cookies with innovative designs. I took the assignment as a complement and began working on unique designs for wedding cookie project.

wedding-cookies.jpg

My first design was actually simple and not very original. I made round vanilla flavored cakes, about the size of a melon scoop. Once they were baked, I cut them in half and hollowed out the center. I made a filling of vanilla pudding spiced with Peach Schnapps and filled the center.

I then placed the two halves together and used the filling to hold them together. I then combined orange food coloring with granulated sugar and rolled the cookies into the mixture. I added a plastic stem leaf. The looked like tiny, sparkling peaches.

My second design for the wedding cookies was to make tiny brides and grooms. I took a large marshmallow and some small marshmallows to create the body of the bride and groom. I then took chocolate in a liquid form and decorated the Grooms’ tuxedo. I used white chocolate for the bride’s dress. I then added graham crackers that I made into a powder and sprinkled over the chocolate.

The next design that I came up with for the wedding cookies was a tiny bouquet of flowers. I used store brand vanilla wafers and simply spread green icing on them and piped different colors of flowers on them. They were very easy and still looked complicated to make.

The other design was created out of bite-size tart tins. I placed a layer of graham cracker crust on the bottom and sides. I made cheesecake filling and filled the tarts. I then took maraschino cherries and placed them on top.

I might not have made the best wedding cookies that have ever been but I did make ones that I knew the bride and groom would like. Each cookie was designed with their particular tastes in mind. A little imagination went a long way in this project.

Hawaiian Wedding Favors Ideas

Hawaiian Wedding Favors Ideas
I have always thought Hawaiian wedding favors were a lot of fun. My bride-to-be finds them tacky, and I have to admit that she has a point. They really are tacky. They are clichéd, overused, stereotyped, and cheaply made. Nonetheless, they are also festive, brightly colored, enjoyable, and fun for everyone. Putting up Hawaiian tiki torches, giving all the guests leis, and having a Hawaiian style appetizers can make any wedding a more festive event. This is doubly true if it is going to be a summer wedding. We are going to have ours in August, and it is going to be outdoors with hundreds of guests dancing. I can’t think of anything better than a Hawaiian wedding favor theme.

Of course, having a Hawaiian wedding party requires more planning than you might expect. Everything has to comply with a Hawaiian wedding theme. It is not just a matter of having Hawaiian wedding favors and Hawaiian wedding centerpieces. The invitations, the hors d’oeuvres, the meal, and even the drinks have to have a sort of Hawaiian theme. If you do it halfheartedly, no one will get into it. It is too silly an idea to just play with. If you want to turn your wedding into a Hawaiian luau, you need to be serious about it. Just having Hawaiian wedding favors ideas is not enough. You need to hire a Hawaiian band – the works. Only then will the guests get into the game. If people are not playing along, it is no fun!

hawaiian-wedding-favors.jpg

The great thing about Hawaiian wedding favors is that they are so cheap to acquire and so easy to find. When you compare Hawaiian wedding favors to other sorts of traditional wedding centerpieces, you’ll see what I’m talking about. If you want to have a more traditional wedding, everything has to look very serious and very elegant. It is a matter of tremendous work to make all the decorations fit together. But if you are using Hawaiian wedding favors, everything can be bright and festive. As long as the colors are bright, they will work together perfectly. The look will be less formal, and it doesn’t have to be perfect. As long as each Hawaiian wedding favor is a different, bright color, everything will work. You must make sure that you hand out the Hawaiian wedding favors at the door, and make everyone wear one at all times. Once they are resigned to it, they will start to enjoy it!

Flower Girl Shoes

Flower Girl Shoes
There are a lot of options when it comes to flower girl shoes but you need to take a lot into consideration before making a purchase. My two-year-old daughter is scheduled to make an appearance in a wedding in this very role and I had a heck of a time finding the right shoes for the occasion. Flower girls shoes for really small children are hard to find but it can be done.

Having a toddler is stressful for a mom. Having a toddler as a participant in a wedding is stressful beyond words. You just never know what they are going to say, where they are going to run and what they are going to do. In addition, you also have to consider their clothes, specifically the flower girl shoes.

You worked hard to keep her dress for the wedding ceremony spotless. She shuffles and struggles to get out of the remarkably uncomfortable get-up that the bride has chosen but you prevail anyway. Then you get to the flower girl shoes and it all falls apart.

The stockings were difficult enough to deal with. Little girls just hate them and toddlers abhor stocking. I’m amazed that they even make them in toddler sizes. My daughter did struggle with the stockings but she really didn’t have a problem until I introduced the flower girl shoes.

The flower girl shoes were stiff and unyielding. Her little feet were visibly uncomfortable but I put them on her since the bride made the selection. It just didn’t work for my child. She had difficulty walking in them but bare feet in the church were not an option so we continued the process.

flower-girl-dresses2.jpg

Fortunately, this was just a dress rehearsal. Once the bride-to-be saw my poor little toddler in those flower girl shoes she said that we had to choose another pair. Even better, she let my daughter take an active part in choosing her flower girl shoes and my daughter was delighted.

My daughter let the bride-to-be put shoe after shoe on her little feet and she was the perfect little angel. Finally, she stood up in a pair of flower girl shoes and walked around the bridal shop with pride. We knew that we found our pair.

If you are in the market for flower girl shoes in your immediate future make sure that you bring the bride-to-be along for the fitting. She can get you out of a real jam.

You want your African American wedding invitations to be unique while embracing basic elements of culture as well.

Texture will add some interest to the African American wedding invitations. Color is an important factor when choosing from the African American wedding invitation designs available. Colors also set the tone for the occasion. A textured, earthy paper that boasts deep, dark reds and natural tones will communicate a casual, relaxed feel for the special day.

Many brides are adopting new traditions that include adding some fragrance to the African American wedding invitations. This will also set the tone for the event. Memories are strongly tied to the sense of smell. You may choose your favorite perfume for a formal approach or you may choose essential oils like lavender or sandalwood.

Each scent will communicate a different tone. Essential oils like sandalwood will present a casual feel. Lavender is calm and relaxed and this scent might be best associated with outdoor ceremonies that have a relaxed tone. Your favorite perfume is a choice that will evoke memories of you and this choice is formal in nature.
