Finding the Perfect 2008 Wedding Dress

Helping a Bride Choose Her “2008 Wedding Dress”

A woman’s wedding day is one of the most important days of her life. A woman will often look to a trusted friend or family member for help with all of her wedding decisions. The person (or people) chosen for this honor should be honest, listen to the bride-to-be, and remember that this is the most important day of her life thus far.

wedding-dress.jpg

Deciding on a Style

A wedding dress is a big decision; the friend of choice should help the bride-to-be select a dress by starting with the general shape of the dress. It is a good idea to start with some of the basic styles. She should try a ball gown, a princess style, an empire waist, and perhaps a ballerina or cocktail type dress.

Trying one of each basic dress type can help the friend tell the bride which wedding dress best suits her shape. Once the best shape has been selected she can choose the other important features such as material, neck line, embellishments, and color.

The size of a woman’s bust and the amount of attention she wants drawn to that area will dictate which type of neckline she should choose for her wedding dress. A square neck line will often flatter a woman with a smaller form and a smaller bust. A V-neck will suit a medium to large sized chest and a halter or high neck can minimize a very large bust.

Brides Look beyond White

Helping the bride-to-be select the best colored wedding dress for her coloring can be another challenge. Beyond finding the dress of the right color, deciding which color she would like to have, as the traditional white dresses are becoming less popular.

wedding-dress2.jpg

Very fair women (which are not planning on tanning) would often feel their skin tone washed out in a white wedding dress. Ivory, cream, or a candle light color will suit nearly any skin tone nicely, as the wedding dress will appear bright against any complexion with out over powering the very dark or very fair skinned.

Embellishment is another factor to consider; pearls and crystals are very popular adornments to wedding gowns, some women look good with them and others do not. When helping the bride-to-be to make her decision be honest about how flattering or unflattering the embellishments look on her form.

Comfort and Confidence

The wedding can seem intimidating for the bride-to-be although she has been waiting for her wedding day since she was five years old. The trusted friend should help the bride-to-be choose a wedding dress that makes her look and feel beautiful.

Feeling comfortable and confident on the big day will make all the research well worth it. The wedding dress will only be worn once, but it is a day that she will hold in her memory the rest of her life.

Wine Wedding Favors

“Wine Wedding Favors”

One of the more popular new traditions for wedding receptions has been to give out wine wedding favors. These are quite often a full sized bottle of wine with a label that is personalized to the bride and groom. Not everyone can do this, as this can be quite expensive, but if you can afford to do it, it might be a great touch to your wedding. Not everyone drinks wine, but they will still love the favor nonetheless. If you look hard enough, you may find mini bottles of wine, or even bottles of champagne for the same purpose. The choice will be up to you.

wedding-wine.gif

If you want to give out wine wedding favors for your wedding, you can find many places online that offer you this service. Some may have the wine, but some just have the personalized labels that they can print for you. You may save money by going to a local winery and buying the wine yourself. Not only will you love choosing your own wine, you will be helping your local winery get the word out about their product. You may get a discount for buying bulk as well.

If you want to have everyone drink your wine wedding favors at the reception, you can hand them out early, or have them sitting on the tables when the guests arrive. Some people have wine already chosen for their meal, and the wine for the favors may not match the meal. If this is the case, save your wine wedding favors until when people begin to leave. You might even leave a note at each table to let guests know they should pick up their favor on their way to out to be enjoyed at a later date.

To personalize your wine wedding favors, you might want to have a picture of you and your new spouse on the label, as well as your wedding date and anything else you might think is relevant. You might also want to include some information about the wine. You should always include the name of the winery and contact information for them. You should also include basic information about the wine such as what meals it might go well with, or how to store it. Some people know nothing about wine, and including this information on your wine wedding favors will be of much help to them.

Weddings Bring People Together

Weddings
are some of the most joyous occasions in life whether it is your own or that of a loved one. It is a time to celebrate love and commitment and thanks to these sentiments, weddings often bring people together who may or may not see each other often. This makes it an even more special occasion.

When a couple plans their wedding, they create a guest list of all their friends and family. The bride and groom want to surround themselves with their loved ones on a day that they will remember forever. Weddings are the perfect time for everyone to come together and have a good time.

weddings1.jpg

Since families often live far away from one another and friends move away and start their own families, weddings are a wonderful reason to take the time and make the trip to be together. This is an excellent time for the bride and groom to reconnect with old friends and distant family. Weddings give people a reason to put their own lives aside and celebrate the love of the bride and groom.

Weddings
and the Dysfunctional Family

In the world we live in today, few families are still completely intact. There is divorce and there are personal grudges and weddings can be difficult to plan when these problems exist. The bride and groom want everyone to be with them during their wedding and they must find ways to not only get everyone to the wedding, but to also keep everyone happy.

Depending on the severity of the disagreement, many people will agree to bury the hatchet when it comes to weddings. People will set aside their own differences in order to make sure that the bride and groom have an amazing day. They may also be doing this for the selfish reason that they actually care about the bride and groom and really want to attend the wedding at any cost.

The bride and groom must consider these differences during wedding planning. Weddings are not easy to plan and throwing this wrench into the works can add a significant amount of stress. It is important for the bride and groom to speak with the guests and make sure they are willing to behave for the sake of the wedding. Once this is agreed upon, the bride and groom should try to accommodate the guests to seat them separately so they do not need to have much contact. Weddings sometimes help bring these people together and unite on common ground and perhaps even get them to talk.

Weddings are meant to be beautiful, perfect days! These days are filled with love for family, friends, and especially the bride and groom. The day should be relished and spent enjoying with friends and family instead of sorting out squabbles!

Las Vegas Weddings

” Las Vegas Weddings”
Las Vegas weddings are, without a doubt, one of the most extravagant and classic types of weddings around. Most of the times when you think of Las Vegas weddings you think of couples getting married in a small chapel on the strip, but that is certainly not the only way in which Las Vegas weddings go down.

las-vegas-chapel.jpg

When it comes to Las Vegas weddings, basically the most major factor is deciding whether or not you are interested and whether or not you should have one for yourself. If you like gambling and the nightlife, then surely you may be interested, because that is really what Las Vegas is all about.

Looking Beyond Casinos and Nightlife

However at the same time, if you are interested in Las Vegas weddings but you do not want to be going out on the town at all hours of the night and would rather have a calm and relaxed wedding, then you can do this as well. Most people seem to think that there are no remote or romantic locations in Vegas, but this is absolutely not true. In fact there are a number of different locales that are available in Vegas that you can go to where you will be able to find peace and solitude.

So really, regardless of the specific type of wedding you are actually looking to have, you will be able to have it in Vegas. Now you just basically have to decide between you and your partner whether or not you think Vegas is the right choice for tying the knot.

What Really Matters

There are so many different things that you have to think about when it comes to your wedding, and so you should try not to overwhelm yourself with any one factor like dress, location or invitations. Make sure that you choose a place that is going to make you happy, but certainly do not stress out over it and make it more of a deal than it really is.

After all, you are getting married because you love each other and so where you are actually getting married does not matter at all compared to that. Keep this in mind while you are planning your wedding so that if you ever start to get angry or frustrated you can think of this and realize that your ‘troubles’ are really not troubles at all.

Wedding Rings

 ”Wedding Rings”

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life.  It’s important to put careful thought into every aspect of your special day.

wedding-ring.jpg

One of the issues that both the bride and groom will want to consult on is what type and design of rings complement them both.  Although gold has been the standard choice there’s a renewed interest in sterling silver wedding rings in recent years.

Sterling silver wedding rings are a more economical choice than gold but their aesthetic value is at the same level as both gold and platinum.  Many jewelers are recognizing that some couples have a deep interest in sterling silver wedding rings and they are designing new sets all the time.

Many couples dream of designing their own rings and with sterling silver wedding rings that dream is very attainable.  Many jewelers have design experts on site that will sit down with the happy couple and draw out a design of their dream rings.

Every detail including the size and quality of the stones are discussed. The jewelry designer will craft an image of what the sterling silver wedding rings will look like upon completion.  This way the couple has a clear view of what they will be receiving.  It’s also a lovely way for the couple to have something unique for their wedding day.

If you aren’t interested in having someone design your rings for you there are many sterling silver wedding rings already available for purchase.  One of the most popular designs are those in a weave pattern.

In these types of sterling silver wedding rings, each band has a matching design of woven silver.  The design can be somewhat simple or very intricate.  The reason these types of sterling silver wedding rings are so desirable is that some couples prefer a band that isn’t solid.  They want something that has a flow to it and can be captivating even without a diamond.  Sterling silver wedding rings with this type of woven design are eye catching.

If you do prefer the more traditional wedding band than you can also find that in sterling silver wedding rings.  There are very plain and simple rings available that complement both the hand of the groom and the bride.

The bride might also wear a solitaire along with her band to complete her set.  The man will generally just wear a band that matches his wife’s.

Sterling silver wedding rings are perfect for couples who want something different and affordable.  They are a true reflection of the love that is shared between the two people wearing them.

Different Wedding Themes For Your Wedding

“Wedding Theme”

If you’ve recently gotten engaged, congratulations! The fun is about to begin! Planning a wedding is exciting and stressful, so take a few deep breaths and remain flexible before you dive into the planning. Of course, one of the most important things that you need to decide before being able to make any plans is your wedding theme. Will the wedding be large or small? Indoors or outdoors? What season will it be held in? What is your budget?

Deciding on your wedding theme will obviously set the stage for what falls into place after that. All of the décor could be based on your theme. Obviously, whatever season you will be marrying in could determine the colors and décor for everything. Some couples want a standard and traditional wedding in which case, tradition is their wedding theme. Other couples want something more out of the ordinary and try to plan a wedding that is unique to them. Then, there are the couples who really plan something outlandish and make the guests question their sanity.

One of the most popular wedding themes is a fairytale wedding. The bride wants everything to be absolutely magical and centers all the plans around that. A fairytale wedding is typically held at night, has lots of twinkling lights or candles, and focuses on complete romance. Sometimes, a horse-drawn carriage takes the bride and groom from the church to the place of the reception. Doves might be released in celebration.

Holidays are often a popular wedding theme as well. It is easy to plan a Christmas or Valentine wedding. Your décor is pretty straight forward and easier to plan. While Christmas weddings can be very elegant and appealing, take into consideration your guests. That time of the year can keep some guests from attending because of other obligations. Getting married in early December may be more practical and the colors and theme of Christmas can still be used.

chirtmas-wedding.jpg

Some wedding themes involve fall leaves, spring flowers, snowflakes or the ocean. If you live within a reasonable distance from the beach, having a beach theme could be incredibly romantic. Finding decorations and favors for a beach theme is simple and can be lots of fun for guests.

Whatever you want your wedding theme to be, make sure that it is reasonable and reflects the personalities of the bride and groom. If people question your wedding theme, remember that it is your wedding and your choice. Hopefully, this will be your only wedding, so you want it to be absolutely amazing. You can make that happen. Even if your wedding theme isn’t a fairytale, you can still plan a wonderful wedding and live happily ever after.

How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Cake

Wedding Cake: The Reception Centerpiece

The first thing people see when entering a reception hall is usually the wedding cake.  Traditionally the cake will consist of three or more layers with a decorative topper.  The cake would be frosted in white with tasteful decorations, and taste even better than it looks.

wedding-cake.jpg

For a bride and groom choosing the right wedding cake can seem difficult; there are so many sizes, styles, flavors and toppers that it can be difficult to decide. Luckily bakers can make the task of choosing a cake much easier.  Many bakers have a portfolio of cakes they have made in the past as well as catalogs of wedding toppers and even more design ideas.

The best part is that many bakers will allow the bride and groom (or the bride and some close chosen friends or family members) to taste each flavor of cake and icing to be able to pick the flavors they enjoy the most.

Wedding Cake Styles

Traditional wedding cakes will be iced in white or light cream colored butter cream frosting.  The cake would be vanilla pound cake, and would stand at least three tiers high depending on the number of guests.  Traditional wedding cakes are often decorated with piped white frosting and silver or gold edible beads.

Floral wedding cakes will often be frosted in white, cream, or a very pale pastel colored frosting and decorated with candied or fresh edible flowers.  Some cakes may even be made with flower flavored cakes or icings if desired.  Lavender is a popular flavoring for deserts.

Contemporary cake designs will use fondant to create beautiful unique designs on the cake which can be decorated with food coloring paint, colored fondant pieces, and frosting to create a truly unique look to a wedding cake.

Personalized wedding cakes are increasingly popular.  The cake can be frosted with colors which coordinate with what the wedding party will be wearing or the colors of which the reception area is decorated.  Other touches such as fondant bows, candy pearls, or other special touches can be added to make the cake match the wedding theme if desired.

Taking the Cake

The baker will need to know a few things in addition to the style of cake the couple will want for their wedding.  These things include the date and time of the reception, flavor of the cake, flavor of the frosting, number of  guests to be served, and which topper is finally chosen.

The flavors can be decided quite easily by tasting what the bakers have available.  A new trend is to offer as many flavors of cake as there are layers to the wedding cake.  The date and time of the wedding is important because certain types of cake (like ice cream) or frosting (such as cream cheese) may not hold up as well in warm temperatures.

The number of guests at the wedding should dictate the number of layers of the cake as well as the size of the layers.  Each baker should have a cake chart for the bride and groom to view and pick the best choice for their wedding cake.  They need to remember a small top layer to keep in the freezer to share later when the frenzy is over!

The Best Places To Get Married

“Places To Get Married”

Ah, can’t you just hear the chapel bells ringing? It’s that time of the year again. Couples across the country are tying the knot and making those vows. There’s just something about summer and love. This is the season when everyone is out searching for places to get married. Okay, so maybe they’re not physically out there doing it. The World-Wide-Web has definitely changed the game a bit. Regardless, we all want to discover those incomparable places to get married so that our special day can be immaculate. After all, we only do this thing once, right?

get-married.jpg

What do you think are the absolute best places to get married? Does the Caribbean pop into your head, or are you more of a mountain person. I know when I planned my wedding with my bride-to-be, we went back and fourth on this topic. It can be a tad difficult agreeing with someone else on the best places to get married. However, we all have to find that middle ground. For example, when we were ready to tie the knot, we both had ideas of what would be ideal. This is why we each sat down separately and planed out a getaway wedding and honeymoon. Then it was time to share preferences. While she told me all about a destination wedding in Thailand, I sat completely in awe. I simply could not believe she wanted to go clear over there and be married by Buddhist monks. Not that the destination didn’t look amazing, or I had to be married in some particular church, but I wasn’t expecting that. On the other hand, my idea was a little more local. I thought it would be choice to head down to Savannah, Georgia for a destination wedding package. We could be married by an official in the historic district and stay at the finest Bed and breakfast. This would be an incredible wedding and honeymoon. I’m talking carriage rides through the town, outstanding restaurants, and fun tours of Savannah’s history at night. Apparently my pitch was much better, because she changed her mind and went with my idea. I was completely shocked, but I sure wasn’t going to argue. Well, in the end it turned out beautifully. So, have you figured out your favorite places to get married yet? Why not hop online and check out what the world has to offer?

Marriage Propsoal Ideas

“Marriage Proposal Ideas”

If you are going to pop the question soon, you are probably thinking about ways to do it. Some people like the traditional on bended knee type of proposal, and many women think that is the perfect way to do so. If you want something different, there are many marriage proposal ideas out there to make it something neither of you will ever forget. You may have seen unique proposals on television and you want to do this for the woman (or man) you love. With a little thought, you can come up with something meant just for the two of you.

propsoals.jpg

When thinking of marriage proposal ideas, just think about what you have in common. What are your favorite activities? Where do you like to go? What are some of the inside jokes you share? Thinking of these things will help you come up with unique marriage proposal ideas. Don’t stress too hard if something does not pop into your mind right away. Sometimes, you just have to put it into your mind, and a great idea will pop out at you when you least expect it. I know a lot of ideas for just about anything pop into my mind just before I fall asleep. Keep a pen and notepad by you bed just incase this happens to you.

Still stumped? If nothing is coming to you out of the blue, you may have to put a little more thought into marriage proposal ideas. Ask friends for ideas, as long as you trust them to keep your impending proposal a secret from your intended. They may come up with something perfect and save you a lot of trouble. If you have thought to ask her dad’s permission, he may have some ideas for you. Her parents know her better than anyone, and they may be able to share a special memory from when she grew up. There may be a place that is special to her that you are not aware of, and this might be the perfect place to pop the question.

Brainstorming always works great for me when I need ideas. I sit and just write down everything that pops into my mind. This might work very well with marriage proposal ideas as well. Just start writing. You may find that something pops out at you as you go, or you can combine two things you never thought would go together. The most important thing in dreaming up marriage proposal ideas is to keep your personalities in mind. Proposing to her at a football game won’t work well if neither of you go to games. You’ll find something perfect, just don’t stress too much.
